Hi, I just had a little experience.I went to see a primary care physician. They gave me a form i which they asked for each and every information. They asked for common info of mine like address, phone number, employer details, education details, drivers license id then sensitive details like SSN,Credit card details. After filling that form i was left with nothing called private information. I was not feeling comfortable so i denied them giving my SSN.They said its part of policy and everybody gives them that information. They can not charge insurance company without that info.We already had given all our insurance info. and they had verified it over the phone. Then we called insurance co. and they said Some people keep that info. but that is not mandatory. This is between us and the doctor so they can not do anything about it. We saw other patients who were giving each and every info. with so much ease. Then the doctor said this is the realtionship of trust and we can not be flexible in this. But why this trust is one sided..they are not trusting their patients..so that they need all the information including private information of the patient. I denied to give them our ssn and came out and took appointment from another doctor. But still....i don't know other people were cool giving their info. and looking at us like we are mad or something. Is it okay to give medical providers this information.I know that doctor will not misuse it but there are so many employees working for them..then it was not even a secure s/w system..they just kept the info. in a file which were in a shelf and was visible to anybody who comes to them.I mean it was embarassing so thats why i want to know. If identity theft happens in this case with anyone then can that person come out of it? moreVoting Question: Is It Identity theft if your Dad and Stepmom use your name and Social to get tenncare benefits?
Tenncare is goverment help for people without insurance. I do not live with my dad or stepmom. I have not even been to their house in 9 years. I have always lived with my mom who had full custody of me. I am now 18 yrs old.I already reported this to tenncare. My dad did not even let me know that I had tenncare. My dad and stepmom were also approved for tenncare. I found out when my dad took my mom to court to try to get out of paying back pay on child support. He told the judge my mom was recieving help from the goverment so he wanted his back pay reduced. He then said that my mom had tenncare on me. I called tenncare and they sent me proof that it was my dad and stepmom who applied and was approved for this.So my question is do I contact the police to make a report on identity theft or what do I need to do so they don't do this agian? moreResolved Question: Why do illegals who break the law like stealing SS# fleeing police MexID under flase names get 30 days probati?

Ivan Garcia-Marin, a Mexican native living at 237 First Ave., could face up to three years in prison on the count of felony identity theft for financial gain, filed Thursday. A jail official said Garcia-Marin is in the country illegally. According to a criminal complaint: Garcia-Marin, 26, was pulled over Wednesday by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department. He provided Wisconsin and Mexican identification cards under different names, but said he did not have a driver’s license. Was this one of those victimless crimes advocates for illegals keep talking about? Were these illegals aware that they were committing multiple crimes? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Illegal immigrants indicted for stealing Texans' tax refund checks 09:25 AM CDT on Thursday, June 11, 2009 Associated Press WICHITA, Kan. -- A federal grand jury indicted eight illegal immigrants Wednesday on charges of stealing tax refund checks from Texas workers and using phony IDs to cash them in Kansas. The indictment accuses immigrants from Mexico and Honduras of using fraudulent Texas driver’s licenses in the names of the legal workers whose refund checks were stolen to cash them in Wichita and Hutchinson. It charges them with conspiracy to defraud the United States, illegal re-entry, forgery, aggravated identity theft and possession and use of fraudulent documents. The dozen or so tax refund checks identified so far in the case were processed at the Internal Revenue Service Center in Austin, Texas, and mailed to apartments in Austin, Houston and Dallas, Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Anderson said. Federal authorities are contacting the victims, who do not need to take any action, he said. Anderson said federal officials are seeing more crimes committed by people from other countries, and the theft of refunds from U.S. taxpayers especially rankled him. “Whether it be check fraud, credit card fraud, document fraud, employment fraud, social security fraud, insurance fraud, mortgage fraud, welfare fraud, gang activity, drug trafficking, alien smuggling, firearm possession—the boldness and audacity of foreign nationals not lawfully present in the United States committing such crimes is growing,” Anderson said. The grand jury meeting in Topeka charged Magdalit Ramirez, 32, of Mexico; Rogaciano Ramirez-Diaz, 33, of Mexico; Nery Sandolval-Montes, 28, of Honduras; Manuel Aguilar-Montes, 24, of Honduras; Franklin Chavez-Alvarez, 38, of Honduras, Jose Francisco Mariadiaga-Guadiola, 40, Honduras; and Alma Gabriela Lozano-Leos, 20, Mexico. Their hometowns are unknown. The defense attorney representing Ramirez-Diaz, E. Jay Greeno, said he had not yet talked to his client and could not comment. “At this stage, I can’t say a whole lot,” said Carl Fredrick Maughan, the attorney for Sandoval-Montes. “We haven’t seen what the basis of these charges might be. Once we get that, we will look into it and we will represent his interests as vigorously as possible.” The other defendants’ attorneys either did not return calls or had not yet entered court appearances. http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou090611_tnt_illegal-immigrants-tax-checks.6d88c02a.htmlI am not a republican! moreVoting Question: is this a insurance scam or identity theft?
I just receive a letter from DMV stating that I was in an accident on this date. It says on the Dmv letter that i haven't submitted my insurance doc. to them yet. It's seem like the people that's claiming this accident have my driver license which I don't know how the heck they would have it. Because I have my driver license on me. So it's a bit weird to me because I've never been in any accident which I was the driver. The last car accident I was in was back in 2003 and I was in the passenger seat. So I really don't know what's going on and how the heck they would have my DL#. The letter has a case number but no license plate number or a type of vehicle on it. Both of my car are in very good condition and never been in any accident. I will go to Dmv tomorrow and see what's going on. But just wanted to see if people here been in this situation before. Just wondering if anyone here had similar problems? moreResolved Question: Is having good relations with illegals worth all these consequences?
The Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Attorney General and numerous other senior law enforcement officials throughout Utah are determined to maintain good relations with Utah's rapidly growing illegal alien community. This may be good for the illegal aliens, but it is bad for Utah citizens because illegal immigration and identity theft go hand-in-hand. According to a senior Social Security Administration official, 75 percent of illegal aliens use fraudulent Social Security numbers to get jobs. In 2008, 16 percent of all identity theft in Utah was employment related. This is an increase of 14 percent over 2007 and it reflects the growth in the state's illegal immigrant population. When illegal aliens use fraudulent documents to get jobs, they commit major felonies, including document fraud, perjury on I-9 forms and identity theft. In spite of this, Utah's law enforcement leaders ignore these crimes to build trust in the illegal alien community. They ignore the fact that an estimated 50,000 Utah children are already victims of an epidemic of illegal alien-driven identity theft and that 1,626 employers were found to be paying salaries to the Social Security numbers of Utah children on public assistance under the age of 13. They refuse to acknowledge that their failure to aggressively pursue and arrest illegal aliens using fake documents fuels employment related, child identity theft in Utah in spite of the fact that in Arizona an estimated one million children have their Social Security numbers being used mainly by illegal aliens for employment purposes. Perhaps even worse, Utah's attorney general, police chiefs and other senior law enforcement officials refuse to even acknowledge the devastating consequences suffered by the victims of rampant, illegal alien driven, felony identity theft. They ignore illegal aliens who continue to unlawfully hold jobs using Social Security numbers belonging to Americans at the same time American citizens doing the same jobs are being laid off. They ignore the plight of American citizens who are denied unemployment insurance because an illegal alien is either already collecting unemployment benefits under the American's stolen Social Security number or because income earned by the illegal alien is credited to the American's stolen Social Security number, thereby making it appear that the unemployed citizen is still working. http://www.thespectrum.com/article/20090601/OPINION/906010307 moreVoting Question: Identity Theft or wrong-doing on our part?
Well here goes, Well my mother and father got a divorce around three years ago. In the court papers I saw that the truck on a lease was awarded to my father. Upon him being bankrupt, I doubt that he even tried to transfer the title or anything. My mother is a non-native speaker and up until recently I was able to pull a credit report. My former father has been very negligent on paying bills being up to more than 120 days late every month, and have a carried over balance. Well recently they stole this truck and the insurance recovered and paid some damage repairs to the lease holder (ameri-credit). Well now that the truck is sitting under 1500 due, I'm doubting there stressing to re posses. Well enough background, the truck is in my fathers possession, him being the only insurance holder, title (still held by ameri-credit), and EXTREMELY bad credit marks to my mothers score. I am in desperate need of advice of steps to take. We have not a key, even if we did I doubt my father would hand it over. Is there a way to remove the bad credit from my innocent mother? BTW this is all in Texas. Would it be legal for us just to find a way to copy a key and take it if credit cannot be transfered?Sorry, my father still has the vehicle, and money is till owed. Ouch, but in the official divorce papers, it states the truck is awarded to my father and i think it states that he must transfer title. moreResolved Question: PLEASE HELP...personal finance questions.?

Anything except suck it up? moreResolved Question: My wife has a problem with money management, on the verge of divorce?
We got married on April 5th 2008 and have been struggling financially since July. First it was us together spending money using credit cards. Those quickly got maxed out. I had provided my wife with a Chevron credit card which she maxed out within a two week time frame and nothing to show for it. I then made a decision to borrow money from banks to get ahead on some of the bills and pay off the credit cards. Which I should have chosen to pay off Bank loans instead. Because the credit cards where maxed out again in shorter time and over the limit worse than before. My wife began to borrow from online payday companies and in most cases using my social security number. Which results in the worse scenarios possible. My credit score was exceptional now we are not able to pay any of the loans credit cards or payday loans. My credit score is dropping faster then Equifax can compute. We were able to address short term bills, but once all the bills were somewhat caught up. We began getting bank overdrafts, we are now on a weekly basis overdrawing the account due to her writing check for things we so called need. For every over draft no matter how small we are charged 25$ and mostly from checks that she wrote knowing that we dont have the money in the bank. Which can add at an alarming rate when the bounced checks are reprocessed again after they failed the first time. So any one check can be a 50$ charge not including the fees by the receipent of the check. We have argued countless times about this to the point of her making physical contact with me and me threating to end our relationship. Yet 2 weeks later it reoccurs again to the point that I dont say anything because I dont want to deal with the arguing. She has admitted to me that she has a problem with spending money. We are to the point to where we are struggling just to pay for bare neccessities. Utilities, Gas transport. Bank Loan, Car Loan, Insurance, Child care, Rent, We dont make enough to keep these bills up. I am to the point to where it would be better for us to end the relationship move back to our parents and get our lives back in order. She is completely torn and does not want this to happen. I would like for us to be happy and live comfortably. But i dont know what the next step is when she has this problem thats going to continue to keep us from progressing in this financial struggle. What should i do force the relationship to end or enforce some type of restrictions? As for a seperate checking account or living on cash alone great options. We both work she gets a check. My job requires direct deposit so i have to have an account. We have a joint account currently and had to close one account previously due to the payday loan companies taking out twice as much than is owed. She has also opened up another account, in her own name at another bank. She has been going to the payday loan websites again and almost certain she is using my social security number to get the payday loans deposited. That arent gonna be paid back. She promises she has not done this yet but is there anyway i can prevent my information from being used without causing her to be charged with identity theft? These are our bills a month 350 child support for my other children 340 child care for her child 320 gas transport to our jobs 240 or more for food and house items 250 rent 262 carloan 167 bank loan 50 heating gas bill 67 Cable TV/internet 153 Bank loan for paid billz 125 cellphone for us to keep in contact for emergencies 137 insurance 125 light bills I make 670$ every two weeks she makes 580 every two weeks I had suggested she pay the 340 child care for her child, 320 gas transport to our jobs, 240 or more for food and house items - But i am stuck with the rest and its just not possible on our income. moreResolved Question: Hard Drive destruction personal information?
With all the scaremongering in the news over the last couple of days about identity theft from old hard drives that are not disposed of securely by council recycling centres (Saw on the News that they get sold by some councils & waste companies to Nigeria of all places to get used over there! - doesn't inspire me with confidence!)) i have tried my best to destroy my old IDE hard drive before it goes to the dump, trouble is that its in the old fashioned steel carrier & while i thought it would be easy enough i cannot crush it enough even with a 7lb sledgehammer to guarantee that the platters are damaged enough that no -one will retrieve my old data like bank details, addresses, holiday photos, car insurance details etc!!! I have damaged the connecting pins & scratched the platter disc with a screwdriver as much i could ( approx about half of the actual disc that i could reach inside) & thrown it against the wall and the floor a few times before hitting it a few more times top and bottom with the hammer. (Before anybody suggests anything - i don't own a drill so can't drill through the thing) Is it fair to say that it is damaged enough that your average computer geek isn't going to get hold of my bank account number etc? How much of an issue is theft from old hard drives or is it just a headline grabber? I really wish i had formatted the thing before i started but didn't think it would be encased in a steel case that could withstand a nuclear blast !!!! moreResolved Question: How do I refute my insurance company, with 4 'moving traffic violations' that never happened?
Today my insurance company (AAA), notified me that my premium has doubled. Today being May 1, 2009. The reason being is I have FOUR 'moving traffic violations,' that never happened. Never have I been pulled over, nor have a received anything in the mail. What's even more weird, is the allegations move to the past three years, and this is the first time I've hear of them: 6/06: Speeding ticket (5 over) 3/07: Traffic Control Device Ticket 6/08: Traffic Control Device 9/08: Speeding (5 over) The date of 9/08, I was living at college, and my car stayed in the parents garage, not insured. I'm not sure if this is a case of identity theft, a mistake with somebody else, or if AAA is viewing me as a cash cow case for a little extra money (which I doubt since they're known for their integrity). I don't know what I should do. Does anybody have advice? Now I'm wondering about the possibility of identity theft. The date: 6/06 I was in high school still, transitioning from junior to senior, and had NO credit card. Neither did I have anything to release any information concerning my S.S. Is identity theft still a possibility then? Thank you guys for the help! I really do appreciate it. :-] moreResolved Question: Is there any way to refute a traffic citation if you believe it was identity theft?
I recieved in the mail a fine for a speeding ticket. The ticket was issued in a town i've never been to ( i later found out its five hours away from me) A former friend of mine stays in that area and I believe she gave my name and birthday when she was stopped. Subsequently they looked up my DL information. This isn't suppose to happen. I contacted the circuit clerk, she says i need to come there to file a motion. But theres no way for me to get there, I can't afford the trip. she says I can have a lawyer file for me, but I can't afford a lawyer, and the pro bono numbers she gave me never answer or return calls. I contacted the issueing dept they told me to file a identity theft report with my police dept but my police dept says they can't file it if it didnt happen in their county. So i called the issueing county and they said they can't file it over the phone (again can't get there) If i don't dispute it it will stay a part of my record, driving up my insurance, and cost me 192 (that I can't afford) What, if anything can I do. moreVoting Question: paypal security questions..?
ok to be clear Im not looking for OPINION - i am looking for FACT in the answer to this question since I have already formed my own opinion and not bothered by anyone elses. deal? I am selling some stuff on gumtree and the buyers have been emailing me asking questions about the stuff and whether I accept paypal. I have set up an account using my visa electron card account but know nothing about it. If I am ACCEPTING payments via paypal what are the ways in which I can be screwed and how likely is it that any of them will happen? Most worried about things like identity theft and people using the account to make me overdrawn etc. Do paypal offer any kind of insurance with their services? Just seems a bit iffy that both items I am selling, the buyers claim that they are going to be shipping it out to relatives/friends elsewhere and wish to include postage fees in the amount they pay to me. moreResolved Question: Is there a way to report an attempt at identity theft?
I've been getting recorded phone messages saying "don't make the mistake of driving without auto insurance, this is you last chance, press 1 to speak to a representative press 2 to be removed from the call back list." so i pressed one because it was an obvious scam and the person who answered asked for the make and model of my car or truck and i asked which company it was and he just hung up. my friend has been getting calls like that too, and they keep changing the phone number. is there a way i can report it?i pressed 2 the first time they called and it just ended the call. i'm sure if i didn't say something they would have asked many more questions than the make and model of my car moreResolved Question: What do U think of The high cost of illegal immigration over in UTAH?
They ignore illegal aliens who continue to unlawfully hold jobs using Social Security numbers belonging to Americans at the same time American citizens doing the same jobs are being laid off. They ignore the plight of American citizens who are denied unemployment insurance because an illegal alien is either already collecting unemployment benefits under the American's stolen Social Security number or because income earned by the illegal alien is credited to the American's stolen Social Security number thereby making it appear that the unemployed citizen is still working. They ignore the desperation felt by parents of Utah children who are denied badly needed, means-tested public benefits because the earnings of illegal aliens have been credited to their children's stolen Social Security numbers. They ignore the plight of American citizens when the IRS goes after them for the payment of back taxes on income earned by illegal aliens using their stolen social security numbers. They ignore the injustices that occur when American citizens are arrested or when they are denied jobs because the criminal records of illegal aliens using their stolen Social Security numbers are attached to their names. They ignore the damage done to Americans who suffer potentially life threatening consequences when their medical records are corrupted with the personal information of illegal aliens using their stolen social security numbers to obtain medical care. This policy of ignoring massive illegal alien identity theft and the impact that it has on its victims is mean spirited and cruel. If this is the price that it takes to maintain good relations with the illegal alien community, then the price is too high and the policy must be changed immediately. They refuse to acknowledge that their failure to aggressively pursue and arrest illegal aliens using fake documents fuels employment related, child identity theft in Utah in spite of the fact that in Arizona an estimated 1 million children have their Social Security numbers being used mainly by illegal aliens for employment purposes. It is time for Utah's law enforcement community to focus on the citizens who they are sworn to serve and to protect rather than on making Utah a sanctuary state for illegal alien identity thieves. http://www.standard.net/live/news/170211 moreResolved Question: Help with business homework!?

I've had an identity theft while I wasn't looking.. where can I get a new one.. and does it come under the home contents cover on my insurance.. moreResolved Question: Do you have suggestions in regards to my financial situation? Please, only serious answers?
Last April, my husband was laid off. He began drinking even more and started arguments over literally nothing. I put his resume on Monster.com, and he got a decent job he likes. His drinking continued, however, and as much as I would ignore him, he would try harder and harder to make me angry to start a fight. After he began his new job, he just decided to cut me off financially - no warning. I don't get a paycheck during the summer, so he knew this was the best time to hurt me. In August, he told me to file for divorce. I suggested a separation, but he insisted on divorce and became so violent I filed the papers. He had terrible credit, due mostly to identity theft that I worked for years to clear up, so all credit cards and loans were in my name alone. I tried to keep up with the payments, which I did for a few months, but it became impossible since my income was now thousands less than it had been. I called my credit card companies before I became delinquent to see if my payments could be lowered, but they said only if I were delinquent would I be eligible for any program. I called Credit Solutions, which ended up being a huge mistake, and cost me $3600 that could have gone towards my bills. I set up payment arrangements with several creditors, but the payments were almost the same as the orignals, and the payment for a line of credit ended up being even higher because they were going to lower the interest rate and shorten the term of the loan. I don't know what to do. I am not able to meet my monthly expenses on my paycheck alone. Once I pay the mortgage, HOA fees, insurance, utilities, etc., my check is gone. I have nothing left over for the rest of the month. My creditors call, and I talk to them about payment arrangements, but their offers are not something I can afford. They continue to call nonstop, even though I have already spoken to them. I even consulted another credit counseling service recommened by a creditor, but the payment would be absolutely impossible. I cannot afford to have lawsuits filed against me and have my wages garnished. My home is worth $40,000 less than what I owe. I had perfect credit until this past fall, when I just couldn't keep up with things on my own. I feel terribly for my daughter. I can't afford her music lessons, the kind of clothes she used to wear, or to take her places like I used to. I can't get child support, since my husband was her step-father. I feel hopeless. I have no clue what to do. Even if I file Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the payment will be not be affordable, from what was figured during an initial consultation. I have been working an extra job, making about $500 extra per month, and had a temporary 3rd job. My second job will be ending in April. During the holidays, I couldn't even get a job at Macy's because I didn't fit the needs of the specific jobs they had available, even with a master's degree. I look and look for extra work. I've sold all I can on ebay and Amazon. If you have any other suggestions, please share. I would greatly appreciate it. I live in California. moreVoting Question: Ways they coul've/should've stimulated the economy?
just turned 20 years of age and from KY. Im just trying to get some insight on what people think of my opinion and ideas on the current economy. I listed my ideas by the number. 1. 100% free pork. The stimmulous plan could've consisted of a super simple idea of giving every person who filed for taxes in 2008 (143,138,000), a check for $5000.00. *ONLY VALID IN U.S.A.* Which the sum is $715,690,000,000.00. Chaper then the almost Trillion dollar stimulous package. In return: I think people would take all of that money or at least a couple thousand and simply "blow it" directly into the heart of the economy. 2.Raise minimum wage to $10.00 an hour. In return: More tax money for government spending. highly increasing employment percentage. As there are plenty of jobs people will not take because they are $6.50 an hour jobs. Taxes are flowing into the treasury so 'caps' can be put on gasoline/oil,insurance,and a specific 'credit bailout' for people who made a simple mistake and dont deserve to file banruptsy and wait 8 years to start biulding credit again.. Start a program for identity theft forgiveness for victims of idenity theft. ect ect ect... 3.Let the banks fail. In return: Not every bank needed a bailout. Some would file bankrupsy and some wouldnt. The ones that wouldnt faulter leaving only the stongest to survive. So instead of a bank on literally ever block you could have one bank in one city. There would be no need for a bail out ever. People have to bank somehwere. Huge amounts of people would be banking at one bank instead of multiple banks who cannot stand there ground. In this case the bailout would'nt have been needed. 4. Things needing to be cut one way or another. Government assistance all together. Free housing. Food stamps. Forced child support. Forced alamony. This money could be spent on law enforecment, homeland security, immigration, parks, roads, bridges, rivers, wildlife, the atmosphere itself. The very world we live in and without it we wouldnt exist. Every living soul should be working and bringing in a paycheck. If you dont then you dont have money to spend in the economy and in return are failing it just the same as the weasles on wall street taking what doesnt belong to you. If your not a U.S. citizen you should not have the oportunity to use U.S. priviledges. Such as a U.S. job that could potentually be a U.S. citizens job.I really like slay247's answer. I see what you mean about increasing minimum wage. It just wouldnt work. Thanks for the contructive answer! moreResolved Question: I got a letter in the mail stating that I owe $1800 for a accident I wasnt involved in.?
I called the insurance company in question and they said that it happened in a city 17 miles away from my house. They wouldn't give me a time or weather it was a parking lot nevertheless I wasn't in the city they say I was in. I spoke to my insurance at the time (I have changed since) and they said they would take care of it. Also I spoke to my attorney and he said it was probably some insurance fraud or identity theft. My question is how did they find me when I recently moved here. Also the statute of limitations for accidents is 1 year and I get this letter last week from a collection agency. sounds fishy. My question is are there any criminal implications even though I wasn't even there just finger pointing. This sounds bogus please help .... they said the accident occured March 17th I get the letter March 10th hummmmm moreResolved Question: Someone broke into my car and stole my registration.?
I cant figure out why they stole this and my insurance id cards. I work in an area where there is a lot of crime ( near Oakland, CA) and I guess identity theft from immigrants. I cant understand what could be done with this info though. I mean name and address is a pretty public thing and easily found out. I closed and reopened different bank accounts, put a freeze on my credit (which is bad anyway), and am going to the dmv tomorrow. Is there any way they could use this legal document to help steal my identity? Or am i protected enough by freezing my credit?Forgot to mention that I already called the insurance agency and they did not think it was a big deal. The cards expire next month anyway. moreVoting Question: My husband's ex wife is using my insurance card and my name to get drugs to get high! Why is this legal?
I am so pissed right now, I looked up our explanations of benefits on the internet today and noticed that my husband's ex is using my name to use my insurance where she lives in another state 1000 miles from me. She has a habit of visiting different Drs. to get xanex and vicodin. I called the insurance co. and let them know, they put it under the catagorie of " fraud". I then called the police to see if I could make a complaint, he said 'what do you want us to do about it? What do you think the prosecuter could even charge her with?'' I said "' I only get a $1000/ year to use and she is the one using it up, using MY name, is this not some form of identity theft?" Guess what?! NO, nothing I can do about it, I want to know why? And would also like to know if anyone else has had this happen to them. Why is it legal for someone else to claim to be me and use my insurance and I have to put up with it??? moreResolved Question: Do you think this company is legit?
I recently applied for a tutoring position that I saw advertised on craigslist. A representative of the company emailed me back with all the requirements that i need. (new hire packet- application, livescan, tb test, proof of insurance, I 9) etc. The representative let me know that I can either turn in my paperwork via fax, mail or going personally to the office. The thing is that I don't know whether this company is legit. I'm a bit apprehensive about giving out all my information. I don't want anyone to misuse my personal information (identity theft). I did find that position on craigslist...but they do have a ORI code given by the department of justice ( livescan). What would you do? btw here's the link of the website. http://www.aaaacademics.net moreResolved Question: what right does my bank have to decide how i spend my money>?
i tried to make a purchase on ebay through pay pal. i don't have any credit cards so i use my visa bank card for all transactions. the seller was in canada.my bank put some block recently on international purchases even on pay pal. i called today and asked about it. the lady was very rude and told me it is for my protection and i had no choice in the matter. she didn't have all day to argue with me and if i didn't like it i could close the account. then hung up on me. i offered to sign a statement agreeing not to hold the bank liable for any fraud or Identity theft on my account. i feel like it is discrimination against international trade. it is unethical. i called other local banks and most don't have any policy like this at all and the few that did said that because pay pal insurances transactions through them if it is through pay pal it shouldn't matter where the seller is. moreResolved Question: question about stolen information?
I had my passport, car insurance, and egistration stolen (not my car luckily!). I filed a police report, plan on submitting my ds-64 to the dept. of state, and will prob. get a new passport, although i dont need one right away. what other steps should i take? i canceled my debit card and checking account. should i cancel the credit card i have? contact social security dept? im not sure what type of identity theft can take place with a stolen passport. i will plan to call on monday to speak w/ someone over the phone as well. thank you! moreResolved Question: Payment for deletion or maybe something else?? It's short.?
My husband and I are going to hopefully be buying a home within the next year. We pulled our credit report up today to see where we stand and to dispute a few errors (identity theft, ugh). Anyways, we saw a deliquint account for a medical bill for $68. I remember that visit, it was for my daughter and she had Medi-Cal at the time so I don't see why it wasn't paid in full. I want it off of my credit report completely, Should I: 1) Go to Medi-Cal and talk to them about the bill, they will pay for it, I already verified that she indeed have insurance through them and is willing to pay in full. They claimedit must have been a filing/or computer error of some sort. 2) Ask them to pay for deletion. It's only $68. I have been reading that it is unlikely they will pay for deletion because of ther small amount. I am scared that if Medi-Cal pays or I pay that it wont get off of my account. What should I do? I don't want it just sitting there, I want it gone!!!It's only a year old. I already spoke to Medi-Cal, they said, bring in the bill and they will pay, they said it happens all the time. Will paying for deletion still effect my credit negatively? This was an honest error not on my part. I'm not exactly sure how it works, I only started looking into it today. If someone can give me specifics on it, that would be great. Like does it still show on your report or does it kinda disapear, like it never existed? Does my score go up a bit then if it disapears? moreResolved Question: What do you do when your family hates you?
I am the oldest of 8 adult children. All of my siblings hate me. I don't drink, don't smoke, and don't do drugs. My father hated me as a child and my siblings hate me as much as he did. My dad died a year ago and when i went to the funeral, people laughed at me as i cried at his casket. Everyone there knew how much he hated me and questioned why i was even there at the funeral. There are some very dark secrets in my family: incest, murder, attempted murder, insurance fraud, medicaid fraud, drug selling, physical and verbal abuse, sex with girls between 13 and 16, theft n identity theft. My father did all of this in the 56 years of his life and the funny thing is that everyone around him knew he did these things, but they hated me for being the Teller of Truth. No one would listen to me as a child when i would tell them about the murder and people in my family knew. To keep me quiet my Dad made everyone believe that i was crazy and i assure you that i am not. I know this is why my family (siblings) hate me because no one wants the secret out. How do i deal with everything that i know. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! moreResolved Question: Will a "Fraud Alert" prevent my auto insurance to be renewed?
Hi, I want to put a "fraud alert" on my credit to prevent possible identity theft. I am wondering if my insurance company can still check my credit history after I put that alert. I am concerned that they cannot check the history and they don't renew my policy or maybe increase my premium. I appreciate if you can advise. moreResolved Question: If I fill in a online Auto Insurance quote ,give them information like my SS# am I at risk for Idenity Theft?
If I fill in a online Auto Insurance quote ,give them information like my Social Security number and the rest of my personal information that I am I asked for online am I putting myself at risk for Identity Theft?I have had several people tell me that it is too risky to give out my personal information online especially for Auto Insurance Quotes. I know several people who have submitted their information into one of the many "online auto insurance quotes" and now they have solicitors all over them, on their phone, emails, junk mail and even one case of Social Security Identity theft. So my question is: Are these online auto insurance quotes really safe? Doesn't it make sense to stay with a local auto insurance agent you can do business with either on the phone or in person. moreResolved Question: I have a warrant out that a cop couldn't confirm yet the county still shows open...what does that mean?
I was pulled over for a traffic stop and a warrant for my arrest showed up..."Theft by check" and it's in another Texas county. When the officer went to have the warrant confirmed, they couldn't confirm it...said it had been taken care of? I called the county to see if they still showed the warrant and they said yes. How is a warrant confirmed? How long is a warrant valid? I have no idea what it's about or that it was even out there. Will I have to go to that county to go before a judge? How do I know if it's identity theft or forged? If it's mine, I will gladly take care of it. How could they not have notified me since I haven't moved until recently after 5 years in one place? Also, why does the warrant not show when I've gotten new car insurance...my DL# is used for that and also for credit checks when I write checks...so confused. Thanks!! moreResolved Question: Identity theft...how do I find out who did this?
We are currently resolving some very fraudulent claims made against my friend. He had went to apply for a loan after his insurance declined to cover IKE damages and was slow to pay for other major damages. He is an old man with perfect credit...he is after all retired on fixed income. The credit bureaus recorded Montgomery county had made a lien against his current property almost two decades ago... Its the wrong name and lists aliases. My friend and I have known each other for decades...he's apart of the family almost and has no criminal background whatsoever! The county says they don't report to credit bureaus, nor place liens, they just auction the property off for the $$$. Equifax just list some obscure address for a court that were not even sure exists. ...anybody resolve these matters ..how did you get it fixed? Why would the VA do that...with out investigating..and was that legal? Can he still get his money back or is that a lost cause...? We were told its a scam but..upon his sell of the home...money would have been paid to the lien holder. How do we find out who the lien holder is if the the county has no record of this lien? He was never served with a court order or anything. Do we need to get a lawyer?... The government even siphoned money off for a loan years ago...for a VA loan for the property he does not own...and never applied for. He said the VA was adamant and took the money with out investigation! moreResolved Question: Am I legally required to give a copy of my drivers license to ins. co. on a cell phone damage claim?
My son broke his cell phone. We're with Sprint. We filed a claim with Asurion as I pay monthly for insurance. They wanted a sworn affidavit and proof of loss statement. (I had no problem with this.) However, they also want a copy of my driver's license. Am I legally required to give this to them in an age where identity theft is a big issue? I have no problem giving them my driver's license number. I just don't want an actual copy of my license out there for someone to accidentally access, regardless of whether or not they claim they will treat it as confidential. moreResolved Question: What are the risks after having your wallet stolen?
My wallet was stolen yesterday. It contained £85 cash, bank receipts, my credit card, student identity cards, driving license, national insurance number card, Boots store card. I contacted the police straight away (they are aware of my stolen driving license etc.) and the credit cards were cancelled. I feel so ridiculous now for keeping all that in my purse, but are there any potential identity theft threats open to me? Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I'm scared of the repercussions. moreResolved Question: Do I need to buy identity theft insurance?

My wife sent documents to the Canadian govt. via USPS to obtain dual citizenship for my newborn with insurance and delivery confirmation of which no confirmation of delivery was ever issued and now USPS is stating the documentation is lost - so sorry. The documents were two Passports, a green card, social security cards and marriage certificate. How effective would it be to hire a decent attorney and sue the pants off USPS for causing an identity theft problem? moreResolved Question: accused of a hit and run i did not commit?
a few months ago i received a letter in the mail asking me to pony up money for a hit and run that i was never involved in. the accident, which apparently wasnt criminal because noone arrested me, occurred in another state than the one i live in, and which i have visited since 2005 i ignored these letters because i thought it was a scam- why didnt my insurance or the police contact me? why geico insurance? with each letter, more personal information about me was revealed. the last letter i received shows my license number, etc etc. the problem is, i have NOTHING to prove that i was in my home state on that day, and i made no transactions for afew days before and after the alleged incident. reason being i had traveled to visit my mother and returned back to my state in time for a holiday --so i had no school or work to vouch for me, only my live-in boyfriend and mother. i dont know who has gotten this personal information about me and how, but im feeling very uenasy about the whole thing. and im terrified. ive already consulted with a lawyer and my insurance company who are taking the case on. what are my chances of losing even though i am innocent. is this considered identity theft? pelase help, freaking outi meant to say i have not visited the state where the alleged accident took place since 2005the "hit and run" wasnt of a person..it was i hit someone else's car and fled the scene, or so im led to believe because i wasnt there! moreResolved Question: Identity theft question?
Okay I don't check my credit report because I never felt the need to. Well I guess I should have. All that should be on my credit report is student loans, my car (1) and medical bills. I just randomly decided to check my credit report and found a bunch of derogatory stuff on there, mainly credit cards (4-5), another vehicle, some type of apartment complex (I'm assuming), insurance, and other medical charges that does not look familiar at all. This stuff is dated back to Nov. 2002! WHAT in the world is going ON? Is this identity theft or possible innocent errors? My bank account is untouch. The cards thats on my credit report, I've never had them. Never had a credit card in my life!PEOPLE, I never got a credit card but it seems as if someone got credit cards in my name. This is why I am asking what in the world happened. My back account is untouch but according to my credit report, I have a bunch of credit cards. I never had a credit card. NEVER! How can someone get a credit card in your name without you ever knowing it? There is also an address on my report that I never lived at. moreResolved Question: Why do we have to be subjected to morons at the Post Office?
I have been battelling my local post ofice for over three years to get them to put my mail ALL the way in the locking box. They refuse to make their carriers push the mail in so that it is secured. The items left hanging out (to get wet or stolen), have been insurance documents, pay check, reimbursment checks, car tag renewal document, even my "preventing identiy theft" packet! They dont care. I went to the time and expense of purchasing/installing a $70.00 big locking mailbox, to twart identity theft, and the carriers refuse to push the mail all the way in. The management refuses to make them tow the line, and so does the Consumer Affairs Dept of the post office. The post office promotes and encourages IDENTITY THEFT! If this happens to you, write your congressman or senator, and get the news media involved. Enough is enough...Some of you didnt read what I wrote. The mail box I installed is HUGE! The opening is 12.5 wide and 2 Inches tall. PLENTY of room for an envelope. They just wont put it in to where it is not seen from the oustside. Any one can just walk up and pull the mail right out. I have had boxes delivered that were obviously too big to fit in the mail box, just left on the porch to get wet or stolen. Post Office rules state they are supposed to take it back to the Post Office and leave a slip for me to come pick it up. I shouldnt have to go to the time and expense of having my mail sent to an alternate location because the post office refuses to have their carrier DO THEIR JOB!! They also damage my grass because the postoffice rule state they are to deliver the mail in the quickest way possible, even if it means cutting across my grass and damaging it. Told them the carrier stays off grass or gets arrested for criminal trespass and vandalism! moreResolved Question: Can I sue my insurance company?
I got this letter in the mail the other day stating that my insurance company has found out that one of the workers (who doesn't work there now) has given away all my personal information...so my insurance company caused my identity theft?? What should I do??? moreResolved Question: I need help writing a conclusion for my research paper on identity theft.?
Here is my introduction: In today's society, there is a white-collar crime that has greatly risen in popularity among criminals. This crime is identity theft. Hundreds of thousands of people have their identities stolen each year. Identity theft is when these criminals obtain and use consumer’s personal information such as credit card numbers, bank account numbers, insurance information, and social security numbers to purchase goods or services fraudulently. According to the Federal Trade Commission, over 1.1 million people were the victim of identity theft. With this number, it is very evident that identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in our country. This paper will attempt to more thoroughly define identity theft. It will show ways in which this very easily committed crime can be avoided. moreResolved Question: I know that i have had identity theft, now i need to know how to fix it as well as what the best agencies are?
So i used to have credit protection through my capital one card, it was through a different agency, and they gave me a credit report with the score, activity, open accounts, etc. i could even access it onliine, and they had a $10,000 protection..that was really good for me, i just stopped using it but now i want to find another service like that that i could access online and everything..with insurance and all..whats the best one? heres my story: When i had that service i noticed accounts that i did not open. they maxed out and stopped using it. im not sure if it was through my social security number or not, but it definitely made my credit score crap. now i need to know the steps i should take to clearing my name. preferrably online filing and such...but i need to fix this because now im living on my own and i need a car and loans.. thanks! moreVoting Question: Does anyone know how identity theft works? Specific problem...?
Starting on August 12th, someone has been trying to obtain credit cards and other credit related items such as a loan for $7k in my step-sister's name. Even this morning, August 23rd at 9:00am, someone was trying to obtain credit cards. My step-sister has a lawyer who is working on this for prosecuting the offender. She has an identity theft insurance that picks up on every transaction passed through her name. When they traced the ISP for who it could be, the source of the transactions was here in the home. To the best of my knowledge, no person was awake this morning when someone was trying to obtain credit. I applied for a teacher's assistant position that I saw on Craigslist that was supposedly at a local private school. The position was high paying and seemed too good to be true. I emailed my resume and cover letter to the email address in the listing and received an email back stating that I needed to fill out an online application through a website called lightspeedcareers.com. I went to that website and filled out the application, which asked some odd questions like who my cell phone carrier is and if I was interested in receiving information on insurance or credit counseling. It did not ask for my DOB or SS#, or any work related questions, although there was a space for me to post my resume. The only personal information that I gave was my name, address, and phone #. I went back to Craigslist to look at the posting and it is no longer there. This is the first time that I have applied for a position on Craigslist and now I'm worried that it was an identity theft scam. Has anyone had a situation like this occur, and if so was it a scam? Has anyone ever dealt with lightspeedcareers.com before? FYI - The Craigslist posting # was 785519191. I have no idea how to find it again on Craigslist. Please help. moreResolved Question: Police Cruiser Top-Mounted Cameras Question
There is an interesting story in the media about police cruisers mounted with cameras that read tags to determine whether a vehicle is stolen, a vehicle has a emission's violation, parking tickets haven't paid, and a host of other violations. This new techology may indeed find stolen cars faster and add many benefits, but does anyone know what happens to the information regarding the tags that are scanned by the computer without violations? Is this information stored? If so, by whom? Does a third party or the manufacturer who is NOT a law enforocement agency get to hold onto the information (name, address, age, height, weight) of people with innocent tags? Could the third party commit identity theft? I support new techology such as the tag reader, but who will responsible for putting into place safeguards to protect innocent individuals? What comes to mind is a couple of years ago when I bought a new car. My state's Motor Vehicle Division made a mistake about my insurance for 3 mos, for which they apologized to me about, but what if one of these tag readers had picked up my car when I had insurance all the time? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/01/AR2008080103570.htmlTootie said, "Its only stored for the day in an internal hard drive that they install on the vehicle. " My additional question: Can this info be verified anywhere? Is there a link? This is interesting.I guess the main difference is when an officer has probable cause, he or she will run the plates. I'm totally fine and satisfied with that. However, the article states that while a cruiser is parked or on the road, the camera scans all vehicles that pass the cruiser. There may be no probable cause with these vehicles without innocent tags. Technology is great, but we've got to still keep the safeguards in place to keep a balance. moreTop Best Identity Theft Insurance Links
