Open Question: Trying to find a mini bulb replacement for my pocket light. Can you help me?
It's a Philips 222 H.K. 1A5 light bulb. Can anyone help me with this? moreOpen Question: Replacement bulbs for old Christmas "candle" lights?
I have a few strings of lights that are quite old-- at least 20 years. They look like dark red/burgundy candles in brass bases, and the normal Christmas bulbs are plugged into the top, where a light would go. As might be expected after two decades of Christmases, some bulbs have blown out. We tried to switch bulbs with old strings, but the voltage for the bulbs is off, or something, because while they complete the circuit, they only barely light up-- not even a flicker, just a tiny pinprick of dim light. We don't have the original boxes, and I can't even find strings of lights in stores that aren't LED lights! Does anyone know how I can find out the type of bulb it takes (without trial-and-error), and where to find replacement bulbs? My lights are similar to this-- a darker red color, but the basic form looks the same. Just wondering because I have these programmable red, green and white lights, that I've had for ten years and when I went to put them on this year they were not lighting right. I went out to get some replacements and not one store sold red, white and green lights programmable lights. You know the kind that you can vary the speed of the flashing? I went home and spent about two hours going through mine bulb, by bulb to get them to work again..Exacty Liz that's why you need programmable lights because you can slow down the flash. I think it does get annoying too if they are flashing like crazy. Energy experts tell us to replace regular incandescent lighbulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, but it seems hard to justify spending $15 on a lightbulb. A 60 W incandescent bulb costs 50 cents and has a lifetime of 1000 hours. A 15 W compact fluorescent bulb produces the same amount of light as a 60 W incandescent bulb and is intended as a replacement it costs $15 and has a lifetime of 10,000 hours. Compare the life-cycle costs of 60 W incandescent bulbs to 15 W compact fluorescent bulbs. The lifecycle cost of an object is the cost of purchasing it plus the cost of fueling and maintaining it over its useful life. Which is the cheaper source of light and which the more expensive? I am trying to understand the concept of heat. Is it possible that heat is left over wavelength from a photon (energy particle)? Take the new LED replacement for a house light bulb. We only need the visible wavelength (or white) leaving the Ultraviolet light and infra red light (among others) Does this mean that the left wavelengths is the heat ? Is the reason that household LED bulbs requires all the fins to dissipate the heat? Now is it possible that instead of this heat being dissipated in the air, the wavelengths could be used to help boost sending electricity longer distances without adding more power? * As a CPU chip's frequency lowers, wavelength increases, (inversely proportional) could the heat (excess wavelengths) be used to help in sending internet data long distances (broadband) instead of dissipating the heat and then using a modem to bring in more energy to boost the signal? * In nature a human sweats to dissipate heat, or change the wavelenths of incoming light (Energy) to cancel out the bodies heat (wavelengths)? moreResolved Question: Moving too the USA from Europe... what too bring ?
Will thing's like TV's bought in Europe work in the USA ? Our DVD players won't play American DVD's we know this all ready so we'll only bring one European so we can watch our current films... what other things XBox ect. we'll bring but just buy the games in Europe and get them sent over by Family What are some other things... Computers all you'll need is a power adaptor ? from Europlug into American ? Other thing's... we want too bring the whole house... with lamps as well... but it doesn't make much sense as we'll be paying just as much for power-adaptors as the items cost... if we did bring some lamps or somthing... are the Light bulb conectors diffrent in the USA ?? What are some other things... most of the stuff can be bought there cheaply as replacement... like bed's and wardobes...Yes my home is an old home anyway... so most of the thing's in the Kitchen we're leaving behind because they don't use Europlugs we had too change them... Thank you!! moreResolved Question: 62" Phillips LCOS projection TV; intermittent color problem. Should I fix&sell or Sell as Is? to who/where?
I have replaced the bulb recently. the problem is that intermittently it seems that one color goes missing for awhile. i.e. the screen appears generally more purple or green than it should be, then corrects later. sometimes there is a band of green or purple on the screen. I could get a phillips person to come here and fix for more money or could take it to a shop (it's BIG and hard to transport) to fix. My fear is that such a problem might involve the main "light engine" or some primary circuit board. I don't know whether it would be $200 to fix a minor problem or $800 to fix a more likely major problem. Dilemma is that although the TV was worth $2K-$3K+ when purchased that intrinsic new value now may be closer to twice the value of fixing it for $800 and i feel that used equipment is worth half new. i.e. if it costs $800 to fix it, i might be lucky to sell for $800 and would not be worth fixing. If I take it in and price is as such then i still pay $100 or more to look at it and it would be likely just a waste of money. don't know how likely it would be fixable for only around $200 which would be worthwhile. from calling repair shops, they seem unfamiliar with such a problem (lcos is not a popular technology, mostly people use DLP now) I had taken it apart and looked at it, and saw what appeared to be a spinning part that had some wobbliness (vibration/buzzing of spinning part with flat edges) during the problem. service people on the phone say LCOS has no moving parts aside from fans. This is not visibly the case as it appears this moving part is within the outer part of light engine. so i don't know if these people don't know anything about the technology, but it would seem likely that although the part is small, with such things a replacement of the whole "light engine" may be neccesary if they don't really know what they're doing to begin with, and i believe that may be a $700 part. So although I think i see a problem moving part, i can only guess that due to phillips lcos discontinued status, local service center inexperience with the product, and location of the specific part that it may cost $800 to fix. So would it be better to sell a mostly working TV to someone who intermittent problem does not bother? through where... ebay local or craigs list or newspaper?, sell it to a pawn shop as-is? or try my luck at getting it fixed by taking it in and hoping it'll be cheap, maybe letting them keep it if it will cost over a certain amount to fix? would be nice to sell it to a tv repairman or maybe someone here knows the technology and knows of a spinning square part apparently not a fan blade, (lcos is not supposed to have a color wheel like dlp nor a spinning mirror i think) and thus would be able to give repair advice. otherwise the advice i seek is what to do with a TV that is only partially broken where expense to fix is unknown but likely high as local repair shops are unfamiliar with the technology. moreResolved Question: Halogen bulbs for pontiac grand prix?

I have a Coleman twin-tube rechargeable lantern that was given to me years ago as a gift. It's gotten sporadic use on the occasional camping trip or power outage, and I've always been pleased with the results. Here's a link to the model/parts list. http://www.coleman.com/coleman/parts/ProductImage2.asp?product_id=5348-700 We had an outage yesterday and got the lantern out, and it had been accidentally switched on when we put it back in the box last time. It didn't light, and I assumed that the battery was drained so I charged it overnight and tried again this morning. Still nothing. I opened it up to make sure that the bulbs were in properly, and they are. The "charging" indicator light does light up when I plug the lantern in. Is it possible that the bulbs are just burned out? There were no problems with it last time we used it. A new lantern is maybe $40; new bulbs would be maybe $8. So not a huge amount of money either way, but I don't want to spend the time and money buying replacement bulbs if the lantern is somehow shot. Maybe something is wrong with the battery or the connections? Has anyone else had a similar problem? moreResolved Question: best light bulb to replace factory bulb?

I replaced most of my homes light bulbs with high efficiency compact florescent light bulbs. Now when I turn on the hall way switch only one of the two bulbs illuminates. Where should I start, I only replaced the bulbs, do I need to do something with the sockets, what about the switch?I am switching out all of my traditional bulbs with new compact florecents. When I flip the switch not all of the lights come on anymore, they did initially and still do sporadically. This is happening in multiple places around the house. They are on 3-way switches if that makes a difference.still no luck, tried to bend out the center pin and it still didn't work. I did replace one of the two on the switch with one of the old lights and it worked fine. Strange to say that both CFL worked the first time I turned it on, but not after that, then only one turned on. Curious if special sockets or switches need to be used. I see in the stores the CFL bulbs that say, for example, "60 watt replacement," though these CFLs are themselves, say, 17 watts. Could I replace an incandescent light bulb that's, say, 60 watts, with a CFL that's meant to replace a 75, or even 100 watt incandescent light bulb? In other words, so long as I keep my CFL wattage below the incandescent bulb's wattage I'll be fine? Or, as I am thinking there might be, are there other technical things at play here whereby I can only replace the X watts with a CFL "meant to replace X watts"? I hope this wasn't too confusingly asked. Thanks a ton!! moreResolved Question: Suing a landlord - small claims?
This is for Ohio. My landlord took out about $250 for "cleaning" for normal wear and tear and the replacement of a screen door, drip pans in the stove, and light bulbs. I took video of the house when we moved out and it was in very good condition (it needed a coat of paint and some other minor cleaning - but it was very much broom clean). She approved the house verbally the day we moved out, saying that it was "perfect" and even begged us to allow her to show the unit to some potential renters within the hour. I was given no proof for the screen, drip pans, and light bulbs being damaged - and I am very aware that, since the items were already used when we moved in, I am only obligated to pay a depreciated amount for their value if anything. As for the cleaning, it only states "cleaned stove, refrigerator, bathroom" - nothing at all about it being some extraordinary mess, which in this state should mean that she cannot charge for it. However, on the phone she claimed that there was mold in the show, stickers on the window, and lots of other false claims that she didn't even list on the deduction. She also claimed that we stained the carpet (and she provided us with a bill for this and only this), however the carpet bill doesn't list anything about the carpets being stained (and our video evidence backs this up as well). But, multiple addresses appear on the bill statement, and the other addresses do have remarks around them about "stains" or "damage" - so it's clear that she's lying to try and keep our money. Her lease also doesn't state that we have to get the carpets professionally cleaned, so I don't believe that part has any merit to it either. Overall, we're seeking double damages - which I have precedence that it has applied when a landlord only keeps a portion of the deposit for routine cleaning. Does anyone know if this would go to small claims, or another area of court?I think the fact that I have the ENTIRE house on film, and none of the damages she states are anywhere to be seen proves my case on that end. Also the proof that she's charging for reasonable wear and tear helps too, because the people she hired says there were no stains on the carpet.I have also sent her a letter outlining the issues and included specific Ohio codes that point out her error, as well as threat to sue. I mailed it as registered, and have her signature on the return receipt. She refuses to respond. moreResolved Question: Change brake light on 03 Lincoln LS?

I can't seem to find this bulb in the stores! Is there something else I can use as a replacement (like a standard philips GU bulb something or rather)? I know nothing about Halogen lights so I don't know what sort of bulb I am supposed to buy. The little tag that was attached to the wire in the roof says "Lamp GU 5.3 12V 50W" and the bulb itself is an Osram Decostar 51. Thanks!!! moreTop Replacement Light Bulbs Links
