Resolved Question: what will the government do to protect and inform the public the dangers of the so called "green" light bulb?

Doctors say scores of people are coming forward with skin complaints after being exposed to the ultra-violet light emitted by the new-style bulbs. And the mercury powder inside them makes handling a broken bulb extremely dangerous. Exposure to mercury can cause itching, burning, skin inflammation, kidney problems and insomnia. Alarming guidelines issued by the Government warn that anyone breaking a green bulb should leave the room immediately. The guidelines, published on the Defra website, say: “Vacate the room and ventilate it for at least 15 minutes. If thousands of CFL bulbs were sent to landfill this could pose a problem Dr Michelle Bloor states: “Do not use a vacuum cleaner but clean up using rubber gloves and aim to avoid creating and inhaling airborne dust.” The debris MUST be disposed of at a secure site for contaminated material or returned to the retailer, NEVER just throw them into your garbage can! Take them to a secure approved toxix waste site. Experts claimed the Government had not done enough to make people aware of the dangers of compact fluorescent lamps (green) EU rules mean all old incandescent lightbulbs must be phased out by 2012. The bulb is a fluorescent bulb (not the long kind). If i put my hands on top of the hood i feel it is hot. The warning says do not exceed 25 watts and the bulb i have on now is 25 watts. Seeing as how they really have no warning labels, I'd expect this to be a new epidemic. Everyone drops a light bulb on occassion, it just happens. When a fluorescent bulb breaks, you're supposed to immediately vacate the area and call for a Hazmat team to come and thoroughly and extensively clean the premises......but I'd wager that 90% of the people buying the bulbs aren't aware of that. Have a lot of health issues been observed already from people that have dropped these things, and yet in their ignorance, did not clean up the spill? moreResolved Question: How serious do you take *Going Green*? do you think that will help the planet?
