Warning Fluorescent Light Bulb Questions asked
Resolved Question: what will the government do to protect and inform the public the dangers of the so called "green" light bulb?
just go to any site that explains the "green" light bulb and you may consider if buying the way more expensive green bulb! this is just a random article of their dangers..: UK NEWSDANGERS OF LOW ENERGY (GREEN) LIGHTBULBS DANGER: Energy-saving lightbulbs Saturday April 14,2009 By Penny Stretton SERIOUS concerns were raised yesterday about the toxic effects of energy-saving so called "green"lightbulbs. Doctors say scores of people are coming forward with skin complaints after being exposed to the ultra-violet light emitted by the new-style bulbs. And the mercury powder inside them makes handling a broken bulb extremely dangerous. Exposure to mercury can cause itching, burning, skin inflammation, kidney problems and insomnia. Alarming guidelines issued by the Government warn that anyone breaking a green bulb should leave the room immediately. The guidelines, published on the Defra website, say: “Vacate the room and ventilate it for at least 15 minutes. If thousands of CFL bulbs were sent to landfill this could pose a problem Dr Michelle Bloor states: “Do not use a vacuum cleaner but clean up using rubber gloves and aim to avoid creating and inhaling airborne dust.” The debris MUST be disposed of at a secure site for contaminated material or returned to the retailer, NEVER just throw them into your garbage can! Take them to a secure approved toxix waste site. Experts claimed the Government had not done enough to make people aware of the dangers of compact fluorescent lamps (green) EU rules mean all old incandescent lightbulbs must be phased out by 2012. But the green measure could backfire and end up harming the environment. Do you think our government will help us? Will the government provide readily available toxix waste site for us to dispose of them? moreResolved Question: Is Obama going to put up a Mission Accomplished sign for the destruction of America?
The number of companies trading at $10 or less on the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index has increased tenfold since the market reached a peak in October 2007. And with no end in sight to the downward spiral, the New York Stock Exchange has temporarily suspended its $1 minimum share-price requirements to prevent a wave of delistings. A share of General Motors stock, which fell below $2 on Thursday as it warned of possible bankruptcy, is now not even enough to buy a gallon of gasoline for your Chevy. A share of General Electric, battered this week to little more than $6, would not be sufficient to buy two of the company’s compact fluorescent light bulbs. And at its current price of 73 cents, it would take several shares of Office Depot stock to buy a box of paper clips. The Dow Jones industrial average closed at 6,594.44, down 281.40 points, or 4.09 percent — its lowest close since April 15, 1997. The broader S.& P. 500 fell 30.32 points, or 4.25 percent, to 682.55, its lowest close since September 1996. The Nasdaq composite index fell 4 percent, or 54.15 points, to 1,299.59. moreResolved Question: The light and hood on my 5.5 gallon hood feels very hot. Should i be worried?
The bulb is a fluorescent bulb (not the long kind). If i put my hands on top of the hood i feel it is hot. The warning says do not exceed 25 watts and the bulb i have on now is 25 watts. Should i be worried of the tank overheating (hood is about 3 inches away from water) or even worse, of starting a fire? moreResolved Question: Are there a lot of documented health problems from people dropping fluorescent light bulbs due to mercury?
Seeing as how they really have no warning labels, I'd expect this to be a new epidemic. Everyone drops a light bulb on occassion, it just happens. When a fluorescent bulb breaks, you're supposed to immediately vacate the area and call for a Hazmat team to come and thoroughly and extensively clean the premises......but I'd wager that 90% of the people buying the bulbs aren't aware of that. Have a lot of health issues been observed already from people that have dropped these things, and yet in their ignorance, did not clean up the spill? moreResolved Question: How serious do you take *Going Green*? do you think that will help the planet?
Of Course what I think is GOD needs to put earth in the wash machine and then we will have a Clean Earth! But this is the lastest evidence: New light bulbs can poison you Despite congressional mandate for CFLs by 2012, U.S. EPA says they shouldn't be used everywhere WASHINGTON – Despite a congressional mandate banning the sale of common incandescent light bulbs by 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is warning that their compact fluorescent replacements are not safe to use everywhere. Do you use these lightbulbs? I tried once hated them, plus I like dim warm lighting... moreTop Warning Fluorescent Light Bulb Links
